Anantara Resort, Hua Hin

After getting off our second flight to Bangkok and going through customs we were welcomed by a team of people from the wedding.  They gave us drinks and snacks and showed us to a van that would take us to the Anantara Resort in Hua Hin, which is about 3 hours away from Bangkok. Our driver was very friendly and was glad to have us play music for most of the ride- he even put in a few requests!

Upon arriving at the resort we were greeted with a welcome gong and floral necklaces.

We were checked in and shown to our room, which is actually the closest room to where breakfast is served and where some of the wedding events will be held. Our room is relatively normal but the bathroom is beautiful and we have a patio that goes out in the back. Anantara itself is very pretty and the wedding decorations made it even more festive and bright.

On our bed we got a leaf with this message- we think they got Hannah’s name mixed up but it made us laugh!

If You Tilt Your Head It Looks Straight…

In Pisa we helped out by holding up its leaning tower. Hopefully it hasn’t fallen down now that we’ve left. One thing we did learn- Lindsey has a very strong tongue.

Can We Fit More People in Here?

On Wednesday we went on a tour of the Cinque Terre area, which is made up of five small towns on the coast of the Medditeranean. The towns and scenery were very beautiful but it was very hot.  We hiked almost 3 miles up and down mountains to get to one of them, making us exhausted but giving us great photo opportunities. To get to some of the other towns we took a boat or train.  The boat gave us a beautiful view of the towns but the train was a little crowded!

An Old Viola

At the Accademia museum there was an exhibit of old instruments. This is a viola that is from 1690! I’m guessing it’s worth a little more than my viola at home!

Sistine Chapel… Zzzzz

One of my favorite stops so far has been the Sistine Chapel. The audio tour that we listened to was interesting, plus the chapel was much cooler than the rest of the Vatican museums and we could find a place to sit down. Lindsey took that as the perfect time to take a quick nap!

We went down to the Center to see the Ferrari show.  None of us are really into cars but it was cool to see the fancy cars.  While we were there we thought we would get Teresa a new car!

Bonfire- With Police Intervention!?

DSC_0472 DSC_0475 DSC_0476 DSC_0480

Friday night we were invited to another Intercambio participant’s house to have a bonfire.  We made s’mores and talked around the campfire with Sophia and Jessie, two of my friends from Intercambio, and their Spaniards, Pili and Milagros.  We were having a fantastic time until a police officer showed up.  He was very friendly and told us that they had had 10 calls from a cranky neighbor saying the smoke from the fire was going into their house.  He told us that we weren’t doing anything wrong but that he had to tell us to put out the fire.  Too bad for the neighbors, though, because pouring water on a fire only creates more smoke!  Now we all laugh about it, saying that it was only the first night with Teresa and we already had an encounter with the police!

The first thing we decided to do with Teresa was bake some chocolate chip cookies.  With a little help from Lindsey, we were able to make some delicious cookies!

Teresa Has Arrived!

20140627_0025396/26/14

After arriving at the parking lot of Conard High School at 11;15 we were told that the Spaniards were stuck in traffic and would not be arriving for another hour.  We went back home, put Dad to bed (he was really tired), and waited excitedly for their arrival.  When we went back to Conard the bus pulled up a few minutes later and everyone rushed to greet their Spanish friends.  Here we are in the parking lot, exhausted but super happy to be back together.  I know this summer will be really fun and exciting for both of us!
